INTERNET HEROES AND E-CITY IN WAFI CITY

Friday, February 27, 2009

So I heard that Internet Heroes collaborated with E-City, the latest of electronic store recently opened at Wafi City, Dubai. Oh yes. Wafi City is a good place, has a nice façade, you are like in Egypt with these giant Egyptian statues colored gold and looking down at you. It is a where unique form of arts are presented and displayed, the food for everyone’s delight, fashion for all, entertainment and lifestyle for you to endure all day long.

E-city on the other hand is like no other electronic store catering to different brands of electronics and gadgets: from mobile phones, mp3 players, laptop and desktop computers, printers, scanner, antivirus, antispywares, external harddrive, flashdrives, LCD screens, playstation and PSP’s, wii, digital cameras, camcorders, home entertainment system, audio devices like speakers, components, DVD players and portables, other small and large home appliances, and personal health care.

Internet heroes, on the other hand is a computer repair servicing in E-City. The problem here is InternetHeroes isn’t recognizable as such since there is no plain and basic banner that tells something about IH, the banner read “computing services powered by Internet Heroes” instead of something like “computer repair and services powered by Internet Heroes”. The latter is clearer to understand.

My company is open for suggestions anyway, so I let out my cry.

For your birthday

Angels brought me here (Guy Sebastian)

Few days from now, you will celebrate your 26th birthday. This song is lovingly dedicated to you. The lyrics are displayed so you can feel deeper what’s inside of me. Luvu.

It’s been a long and winding journey, but i’m finally here tonight
Picking up the pieces, walking back into the light
Into the sunset of your glory, where my heart and future lies
There’s nothing like that feeling, when i look into your eyes…
My dreams came true, when i found you
I found you, my miracle…

If you could see, what i see, that you’re the answer to my prayers
And if you could feel, the tenderness i feel
You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…

Standing here before you, feels like i’ve been born again
Every breath is your love, every heartbeat speaks your name…
My dreams came true, right here in front of you
My miracle…

If you could see, what i see, you’re the answer to my prayers
And if you could feel, the tenderness i feel
You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…

Brought me here to be with you,
I’ll be forever grateful (oh forever Faithful)
My dreams came true
When I found you
My miracle…

If you could see, what i see, you’re the answer to my prayers
And if you could feel, the tenderness i feel
You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…
Yes they brought me here…
If you could feel, the tenderness i feel…
You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…

WINDOWS 7 FROM uTORRENT

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Do you want the latest from windows? Get windows 7, it’s still in BETA though, meaning for trial purposes. At least you will be one in a hundred who will experience the new way of windowing. How to download? Simple, get a torrent installed into your pc. What is it? Torrent is software that acts like limewire to download things from the net. I’m using it to download movies, mainly. Now I just found out on how to do the windows 7. Do the google thing, type windows 7 full torrent. Download might take several hours but it pays! Good luck!

EBOLA RESTON VIRUS

This virus was first discovered procrastinating in swine. Then the virus was found among “the origin of the human species”:  monkey. Humans on the other hand, once infected by this virus causes no great deal since careful studies showed no harmful human effects, so far, until otherwise officials of the medicine will disagree, we will wait until further notice. Flu, maybe?

This apprehension of virus was found among hogs in Central Philippines, namely Bulacan and Pangasinan, while DOH and other officials are testing the quality of the hogs being produced for market in the region. Immediately, they tested the workers, confined, diagnosed and treated, as of the moment, these workers are in good shape. Six of them were reported with ERV, although they are under observation, and hoping contact to other humans will not spread the so-called virus.

6000 hogs will be burned and buried (in a nice way still, we are aware of the animal rights) to stop the probability of the virus spreading in some other farms or to humans. Until then, let us pray that this disease-maybe-causing will stop immediately, and we consider healthy living always.

Way back in my elementary years, we tease those who were born on the Year of the Monkey as contaminated with Ebola virus. So I remember.

WHAT’S YOUR PASSION?

Monday, February 9, 2009

There is this article on a men’s health magazine that made me think a hundred times leading to more unanswered questions. It read “do not stay in a place that is comfortable. If you still don’t know what your passion is, keep on looking”. True. What are my strengths and weaknesses? What makes me feel happy?

Looking back on years that I think were wasted, I feel sore and sad. I let someone, or the environment, or the situation take control of my life, of my own happiness, in a way that I’m too busy playing in my comfortable place and pleasing everybody that I forgot to please myself and find the true meaning of selflessness, which is satisfying oneself so you can satisfy the needs of others (I thought), that led me neither to get out nor glimpse the passion inside of me.

Growing up, I have  lot of passions: drawing or painting or sketching (that until now fascinates me when I have a result), dancing plus choreography and singing on my elementary and secondary years (with evidence), involvement in school politics as high as vice president only (I know my qualifications and limitations, so not to brag), and journalism that includes writing an article, handling and taking photographs of people, of places, or of events (that I can continue and I know will lead me to something fruitful if taken seriously). Those are history.

Focus on what you can do and be satisfied and productive at the end of the day. Even if it will take too long to find your passion, don’t ever quit. Ern…

Moving forward, I say 4 words to sum up what I feel satisfies me: drawing, photography, autocad and blogging.

P.S. what about having your own business like a restaurant or something? Nahhhh it isn’t my passion.

SIMPLE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It’s difficult to possess a lot of talents where you can’t enhance it, or even share it. I want to achieve things unimaginable and unreachable. Here I am, empty handed, with clock ticking to last minutes…

When I was a kid, I wanted to become an architect, or so I thought. My hands are good in making drawings, I mean copying, technically or not. Cannot draw out of imagination, sigh! I should have enhanced it way back, when I still have lots of time. I pursued my second choice instead when I stepped into tertiary world, engineering. Graduated but not licensed, I ventured into an engineering company for less a year, then 3 years in a callcenter industry, then into IT world. I don’t feel successful to what I become today, and yet I managed to get out of the country and live in Dubai.

I.T. again. I don’t know where it will lead me. If asked where my career will be in the next 5 years? I simply can’t tell. During my free time, I dreamt of being an architect, a successful one, seated on a high chair, with pencil on mouth, t-square and everything an archi should have to create a successful drawing or something, one whom being served by others, a boss. Unfortunately, it’s just a wishful thinking.

I can start with autocad and perhaps create a floor plan for my apartment house that I know will give me extra income, not just my dream house, but a business house. I wanted to include a place to where my dad can continue his barber shop business. He is good in trimming uniformed or civilian citizens’ head. I’ll add a place for recreation, a pool table for the whole family to enjoy, a façade for my mom to enjoy every morning with her flowering plants, whether hanging or crawling, and a two-door apartment on top.

I don’t know how it goes, but as of this writing, this will be a start. So help and guide me Lord.

SORRYNUARY

Not a single post on January? I’ve been out of civilization for 40 damn days waiting for my employment visa. I apologize for having no articles. I came back yesterday.

EMPLOYMENT VISA

“Count 10-15 days from that date and you can go back to Dubai”, I heard her say. But she (HR) gave me an indefinite date to when she applied for my employment visa. She is giving different days to me or to my supervisor, even to Wawie. So it’s over I thought. I lost trust on this company and the people working inside, specifically those who cannot keep a word.

“Just enjoy”, one of my roommates in Oman said when I brought up my miseries with the company I’m currently working with. Oh yeah, I will.

“It’s not 3 to 5 days, it’s 35 days and your visit visa will be released”, jokingly cried one, when another told his stories with his company as well. “That foreigner just can’t say it clearly or you might hear it wrongly!”

Unfortunately, my company keeps on promising me things that are not true. HR told me to wait for 10-15 working days when I’m almost 1.5 months outside Dubai. They even told me that the owner of the company went back to his country in India and will be back after 2 weeks, so I waited. Until then, the owner wasn’t able to sign the papers to release the money so HR can get my visa from immigration. I don’t know the number of our PRO so I can ask him directly and HR said we don’t have one, how come? I don’t know how to check if I really have an employment visa from immigration even.

My company might just be using me for their benefits, and for my welfare, its negative zero?!

Life in Oman

So here I am in Khasab, Oman, in Dolphin Hotel with individuals from different walks of life, waiting for employment, visit, and tourist, long-term or short-term visa to be released. Some of my befriended buddies have 50 days of stay in Oman and still counting. Some of them even if the visa was released, are still stranded due to the ruling of the hotel that they need to settle their debts before checking out. Too bad for those who suffer from this kind of problem. A friend of mine even used his laptop as collateral just to get out of Oman, giving him instructions to pay his bills when he reached Dubai for him to get his laptop back.

If you’re always alone, you will feel the pain of living here. Its best to use your interpersonal skills to communicate with others and for sure you won’t be feeling sore and you’ll not notice that the clock is ticking to next minute…

Shisha, as what the locals call it, stimulated my brain one night, when my flatmates decided to have some beer on a restaurant. It has different flavors like double apple, grapes, strawberry, and cherry. My favorite is mint. It tingles on top of your tongue and when you smoke it out of your nose or mouth, the smoke is a bit cold. For merely 10 minutes of smoking, my head’s spinning. So I called it a night.

Usually that’s life in Oman: fishing, shisha, brood or barbican (local beer and tastes like cali), go to other room, watch film or porn, playing cards, smoking Marlboro, sleeping more than 12 hours starting at 4 or 5 in the morning, waiting for visa in the office, beach and bitching, marketing, cooking for all, chicken, fish, lamb meat, and more chicken skin. No pork, ever!

Some forbidden relationships are created here unnoticed or simply because people are running out of Rial (for survival purposes). Some of them even carried out their relationship deeper by bringing it to Dubai, though some of them said no. Whatever their reasons for doing so, I am in no position to judge them. We are like mice that when the cat is away, we’ll play.

Exit in Oman

3 days from now, I have to get out of Dubai. My tourist visa will expire soon, and my visa isn’t extendable, it’s only good for a month.

Fortunately, I had an interview earlier in Jumeirah Beach Residence, in “The Walk”, where all nationalities collide for a spectacular view of the sea, and the Atlantis (located in Palm Jumeirah), shopping, dining, mostly dating, and but not the least beaching.

“Wow, this place rocks!” I thought. Good for me, I passed the interview and signing of contract is set, coupled with my desired compensation, I joined the company. The next day, I had a briefing on what needs to be done, “too tiring”, I whispered whimsically.

I don’t feel excited getting out of Dubai since I’ll be leaving her behind. And the thought of staying in Oman for more than a week scares me a lot. No friends, no nothing. “Everything starts simple leading to complications later.” I might be trapped in a world full of horny individuals and be their master or slave? Hoping not…
